The Amazing Sights & Sounds Of Havana

Think of Havana, Cuba, and you might be transported into a mesmerizing dream perfectly frozen in time. Tropical colors and rhythmic Latin beats mix with the sea breeze and smell of delicious Cuban cigars, all of which creates the paradoxical world of old and new that is La Habana.

Welcome to our guide of the sights and sounds of Havana beyond the typical tourist spots. With longing for beauty and passion for experiences, come with us as we explore this city where shades of the past coincide with the world of today.

A Day in La Habana Vieja

To get yourself oriented, we suggest starting with a walking tour of the four main plazas in Old Havana: Plaza Vieja, Plaza de San Francisco, Plaza de la Catedral and Plaza de Las Armas. Here you will find yourself surrounded by the history and beautiful architecture of downtown Havana, a world heritage site. Then, take Calle Obispo to Parque Central, where you will find a buzzing city center.

Next, you head over to the Museo de la Revolución, which is located in the former presidential palace and offers beautiful architecture and excellent photo opportunities. The museum features exhibits that tell a riveting story of the Cuban revolution and is perfect for those interested in the history of Cuba.

For authentic souvenirs. browse the books and trinkets to take home at the famous bookstore Librería Venecia, or get inspired by local artists with a visit to the studios at Taller Experimental de Gráfica. If you're looking to bring back some of Cuba's finest for your friends and family, you can't pass up the opportunity to try cigars at La Casa del Habano at the Partagás Cigar Factory (Calle Industria No. 530).

After a busy day exploring the Old Havana, treat yourself to a seaside mojito as you stroll along the Malecón at sunset. If you want to recreate the taste at home, consider purchasing some Havana Club Anejo 3 Anos, or for a sweeter note, check out Legendario Elixir de Cuba.

Feel the Rhythm of La Habana's Music

Havana pulsates with some of the best music in the world. The unique fusion of Spanish and African beats combine modern and traditional vibes that constantly challenge creative boundaries while retaining a deep hook into the history of Cuba.

If you're a lover of salsa, we recommend feeling the heat at Casa de la Musica - one of Havana's most popular nightclubs. For a more relaxed but still lively vibe, check out La Cecilia, which features an outdoor setting with tropical plants and one giant dance floor.

El Gato Tuerto is a cool bohemian club where you can enjoy the sounds of traditional Cuban music, such as Boleros and Trova. Or just end up at the Cabaret Tropicana - the place for a classic Cuban cabaret experience. It opened in 1939 and still continues to make hips shake under the night stars!

A City Besieged by Color

The beautiful, vibrant colors of La Habana are a result of the city's rich historical past. The city is, at its core, a reflection of the nation, filled with passion, rhythm, and tropical notes. To get a glimpse into the city's identity portrayed through vibrant color, head to Fusterlandia. This small village on the outskirts of Havana is a neighborhood encompassed by art and a rhapsody of color and creativity. Vibrant art pieces jump off buildings and homes and offer insight into the whimsical nature of the Cuban culture.

Old and new exist together in the bright, paradoxical world of Havana, and we were certainly inspired by the colors and vibrancy of this rich cultural spot know as La Habana!
